Day 1: Update #3 March 14, 2012

Scott is resting quietly now, after all of the effort to wake him up and get a response.  Each effort got a better response, and he finally did respond to verbal commands.... some moving fingers and a half blink of his left eye.  Soo very grateful for the little things!  They are going to try adding some nutrition into his IVs later today.

They are planning to do the second surgery on his right arm tomorrow mid day, don't have a time yet. They will either close him up or do a skin graft, depending on the swelling and pressure in the arm.

After the surgery, if his neurological status holds up, they will try taking the ventilator out.  They will also have an eye doc look at his right eye, due to bulging. Sooooo much swelling in general around that eye due to the orbital fracture.  They are choosing to let the remaining facial fractures heal on their own.

They expect when Scott is ready for discharge from the hospital, that they will transfer him to a neuro rehab unit in Phoenix.

Had to up my cell phone minutes! Yikes!

Anyway... new "good news"/progress every 2-3 hours, so we are loving the direction things are heading!  It is so amazing to watch the benefit of the many prayers in action.

So.... Ashley is finally allowing herself to sleep.  Scott is quietly resting... I might grab a  little shut eye...  will update you with any further progress, as we have it.

Love you all,
Patti

  1. Hi Ashley! This is Lyndsie, Ryan's girlfriend in Denver. I wanted to send some love to you and Scott. I am so very sorry to hear about the accident, and so very sorry that you are both going through so much pain. I'm glad to hear that there's been some progress and that he's hanging in there. I will be praying for you both and for your family. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help, and you are in our thoughts and prayers!!!
