Day 31: Purity of Soul - Friday, April 13, 2012

OMG - Scott slept well, Ashley slept well.  I entered the room at 4am realizing that this may be the last night that Scott would require all night monitoring.  Ashley had the new room set up where she slept in a folding bed next to Scott and Scott’s bed had a bed alarm set.  Scott managed to alert either Ashley or me about going to the bathroom every time and slept peacefully.  The much needed rest started the day off with a bang.

Because of the Eye appointment in the afternoon, Scott had all of his therapy appointments before noon.  As usual he did well and showed great progress.  Here are a few of the videos.

Here is something to rile up the political juices.  It appears that Scott and Ashley do not qualify for the State of Arizona’s Medicaid program for one and only one reason,  they do not have a child.  (Insert expletive deleted here)  In the interest of decorum, I refrain from commenting but will let the facts speak for themself.  Feel free to harass any and all Arizona government representative about this lunacy.

Videos - Scott goes to the eye doctor:

As Scott mentioned we went to the eye doctor for a second and final decision about his vision.  The news was not pleasant to hear but was what we expected, his right optic nerve lost blood flow as a result of the accident and has “died”.  There is no hope for repair or for regaining sight in that eye.  Scott will now add his name to the many other one-eyed physicians currently practicing medicine.

I don’t want to end the post with this downer so will close with the promise that over the weekend we will try to fill this blog with direct video thoughts and interviews from Scott.  He continues to be an example of true love, grace and light with every interaction.  His purity of soul is incredible.

We are so blessed
